PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (NBC) - We have all heard it before- men hate shopping. The holidays present a real challenge for those men and for the women for whom they had better be buying gifts.

A new Web site created by a Delaware man helps take the sting out of the shopping experience for men, who sometimes wander aimlessly with a confused look on their face because they have no idea what to buy.

"He starts by saying that he's getting a headache, and it ultimately progresses to, 'I feel nauseated,'" said Rachel Carp, contributor to menhateshopping.com .

Eric Carp is one of those men.

"It's a void out there," said Eric, creator of menhateshopping.com. "Couldn't find what I was looking for when I was trying to find some help for myself."

That is why the IT manager from Media, Delaware recently launched the menhateshopping.com Web site.

"This site really does help you point to the right places to shop and really shortens your shopping experience," said Eric.

Here is how it works. You can search a number of categories, or you can plug in a specific item, such as jeans. The site shows you what is available and offers articles on how to make the right choices.

"Once you find what you need, then you can click on that item," said Eric. "It'll bring you right to the store, and you buy it from that store."

A clueless guy can even ask for advice. Eric's wife, Rachel, answers questions in the " Ask Rach " section.

"You can click on that," said Rachel. "You can write an e-mail to us and say, 'Look, I'm trying to buy...Not sure what her size is, I'm nervous. Can you help me?'"

Also, if a guy registers with the site, he can save information about his loved ones' favorite stores and products.

"And when the time comes to get them a gift, they'll know," said Eric. "They'll log in to see the list, go right to it. Bang, they have their gift."

Registering on the site is free, and new features are being added all the time. Coming soon is a message board where men can trade ideas about the best gifts for the lady in their life.
