FLOWER MOUND, Texas (NBC/KXAS) - A fall favorite is in short supply this season.
A pumpkin shortage looms in the Lone Star State.
"That big jack-o-lantern may not be Texas-grown this year," said Wes Stucki, who owns Flower Mound Pumpkin Village. "It may come from out of state."
The drought has devastated pumpkin crops in Texas and in other parts of the nation. Farmers said they have been forced to order pumpkins from other states.
The size of pumpkins will be smaller this year, and the cost is likely to go up.
They are feeling a shortage in the Northeast as well, where Hurricane Irene wiped out many patches.
