SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Police arrested 15 protesters Monday after a demonstration outside of U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's San Antonio office.
They all face criminal trespass charges. Those arrested Monday night support a proposal that would provide a path to legal status for children of illegal immigrants who go to college or join the military.
Hutchison on Monday was en route to Washington following the Thanksgiving weekend holiday. Her office said security was asked to escort the protesters out, at the end of the business day, and not arrest anyone.
Some protesters then allegedly resisted.
Hutchison's office on Tuesday said she appreciates the passion of the protesters but that she hopes they can find safer and more peaceful ways to voice their opinions.
The senator's statement also said Hutchison has concerns with the present version of the Dream Act legislation.
