CHICAGO (AP/CNN) - The body of a 21-year-old Illinois soldier killed in the shooting rampage at Fort Hood earlier this month is back in her hometown of Chicago.
The body of Pvt. Francheska Velez arrived Monday morning at Midway International Airport. A patriot guard was formed to escort a procession past her alma mater Kelvyn Park High School.
Velez was one of 13 people killed at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5. She had recently returned from deployment in Iraq because she was pregnant.
Visitation for Velez is scheduled for Wednesday at Montclair Lucania Funeral Home. Her funeral will be on Thursday followed by a burial at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Another Illinois soldier killed at Fort Hood, 22-year-old Pfc. Michael Pearson of Bolingbrook, was buried Saturday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
