LAS VEGAS (NBC) - The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas showcases the next big thing in the electronics realm as the world's fair of gadgets opens Thursday. It takes a lot of work for those preparing to unveil the future.
"All brand-new designed from scratch," said a demonstrator.
Most of it is pretty amazing, but it is not all business at the electronics show. An alien for a screen top is the world's first 3D Web cam. Also among the new gadgets is also an infrared shooter for a free-flying mechanical bird, perhaps for duck-hunting in your very own living room.
Of course, most of what people see at this convention is pretty serious, and in some case cases, it is seriously thin. There is a new Sony TV about the width of a credit card. Microprojectors are also a hit this year, and some even come with a first-ever 90-degree angle capability.
"So you can basically take your iPod, plug it in and watch your movies," said a demonstrator.
If the technology tends to give you a headache or you think it is a pain in the neck, well there is even something at the electronics show for that- a full-body massage chair.
"It's very soothing, especially the back rub and the feet," said a man testing out the chair.
The foot rub offered by the massage chair is perfect as we take the next step into the future of home technology.
