(NBC) - How does two cars for the price of one sound? These days, when it comes to the automobile industry, dealers are getting desperate. For consumers, there is just no escape from the constant barrage of new car ads.

In Boise, Idaho, the offer is buy one get one free, as in buy a high-end SUV, and they will throw in a $13,000 Chevy.

"We sold vehicles in Louisiana, Texas, as far away as Alaska, and it's just been crazy, the response," said car dealer Mark Peterson.

At a Florida Dodge dealership, it is two trucks for the price of one. This is all to make ends meet and clear out inventory. Dealers are pulling out all the stops to get people in the showroom.

"The bottom line is that this is an excellent time to buy a vehicle," said industry analyst Jessica Caldwell with edmunds.com. "We haven't seen incentives like this in years."

In today's economy, wanting a car and being able to afford one are two different things. With many concerned about their jobs, one car company, Hyundai, offers a worry-free sale. The catch is anyone who loses their job or income within the next year can return their car, no questions asked.

"I think it is very timely to give consumers something in the economy that will address some of their concerns," said Brian O'Malley with Hyundai America.

The deals do not stop with the dealer in suburban Detroit. New buyers of "Big Three" products are being treated to their first fill up for free.

"We realize that it's going to take every American to save America, and that's why we did it," said gas station owner Albert Abbas.

Dealers are courting consumers, perhaps like never before, to help turn the ailing auto industry around.
