FORT HOOD, Texas (KXAN) - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died from injuries suffered from gunshot wounds on Thursday in Killeen. He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin at 11:37 p.m.
Spc. Jamie Lee Schnider, 33, whose home of record is listed as Carter Lake, Iowa, entered active-duty service in July 2008 as an c annon crewmember. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since December 2008.
Schnider deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January to December 2009 and May to December 2011.
Schnider's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Combat Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and Marksmanship Qualification Badge-Marksman with Recoilless Rifle.
