GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) - Police arrested four suspects after witnesses accurately described them to a 911 dispatcher.
Two suspects, later identified as Ashton Roland, 21, and Jose Hernandez, 19, barged into a Jiffy Mart on Saturday with the intention to rob it, according to a police report. One witness saw the two masked men enter the store and fled out of the back door because he "fear[ed] for his life."
After running from the store on South Austin Avenue, the witness allegedly saw two other people sitting in a four-door Buick LeSabre. The witness said they saw the two suspects get into that car. The witness overheard one person inside the car say "Did you get it?" to one of the suspects and the other suspect said "there was no one at the counter."
The witness ran away from the scene to call police.
Later that afternoon, another armed robbery took place on South Austin Avenue at a Metro Mart. Witnesses said two suspects, matching the description of Roland and Hernandez, entered the store with guns in their hands and demanded money. A witness entered the store as the two suspects were running out, so they called police. The witness saw the suspects get into a four-door car and was able to get part of the license plate number.
A Georgetown police officer was driving to another call when he spotted the car described over the scanner as one involved in armed robberies. He stopped the car where he found Eddie Polk, 20, driving, Hernandez, Roland riding in back and Natairreia Yett, 20, sitting in the front seat. Hernandez and Roland were wearing hoods, just like the witnesses had described and what was on the surveillance tape in the stores.
All four suspects were taken into custody. Polk and Yett admitted to the robbery, according to reports, but their said they did not know that Hernandez and Roland intended to rob the stores. All four suspects face charges of aggravated robbery.
Inside the car, police found two ski masks, three black handguns, marijuana and about $1,900 in cash stored in a CD case.
