Jarrell trustee candidate sues after narrow loss

JARRELL, Texas (KXAN) - State District Judge James Clawson set the trial over the Jarrell school board election for Feb 26 and 27 according to the attorney for one-time candidate Rusty Bryson, who lost the election in November by three votes.

Bryson brought the suit because of a ballot box controversy in the north Williamson County community had voters questioning last week's election results. Election officials estimate somewhere between 20-30 voters received the wrong ballot.

Poll workers had the correct ballots, but they overlooked them early in the day, according to Rick Barron, the Williamson County elections administrator.

Bryson has filed a complaint with the Texas Secretary of State. Part of her complaint alleges improperly trained poll workers. A document provided to her by Barron’s office showed both workers had completed the necessary in-person class but not additional online training.
