CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) - Motorists with a liking for speed can soon drive faster on the toll road that runs through Cedar Park and Leander.
The speed limit along State Highway 183A will increase from 70 mph to 75 mph as soon as all the speed limit signs are changed or installed on the new stretch of highway in early August, officials announced.
The road extends RM 620 in Northwest Austin to cities north.
The speed limit is being changed in response to a new state law that increased the maximum legal speed limit allowed on roads like Hwy. 183A, Pustelnyk said.
A speed study was conducted to determine the appropriate speed limit.
Drivers must continue to travel at the posted 70 mph speed until the new 75 mph signs are installed, a task expected to be complete within the next week.
