ROUND ROCK, TX (KXAN) - If you get a phone call from the Round Rock Police Department, you may want to think twice before doing what the caller says.
Round Rock police said someone with a Middle Eastern accent called homes claiming to be with the department.
The caller told at least one victim the department had outstanding warrants for them, and if they didn't pay, officers would arrest them.
Officers said the caller would then offer a "discount" if they payment was made over the phone using a credit card.
Caller ID for the scam listed 218-5500, the main number for the department.
Police warned you should never give credit card information over the phone to anyone.
