ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - A Round Rock police officer is recovering from an ankle injury after he got into a fight with shoplifter.
Just before 7 p.m. Thursday, employees at the Walmart at Interstate 35 and State Highway 45 called police about a thief who had taken items and ran away from the store.
An officer in the area recognized the man in a parking lot of a business on the south side of SH 45.
RRPD spokeswoman Dee Carver said the officer tried to catch the suspect, but not before a brief struggle. The officer managed to arrest him.
The officer suffered an ankle injury and was transported to Seton Medical Center Williamson for treatment.
Meanwhile, the man did not suffer any injuries during the fight.
