ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - A Round Rock police officer accidentally shot himself in the foot during a training exercise on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Round Rock Police Department spokesperson officer Dee Carver, officer Sean Johnson inadvertently discharged his firearm during a training workshop conducted by an outside provider at the Williamson County firing range.
Following the incident, other officers applied first aid on the scene before Johnson was transported to Seton Medical Center-Williamson, Carver said.
The 18-year veteran officer was treated and released Wednesday evening. He has worked with RRPD since 2006.
The accidental discharge is being investigated by RRPD.
