WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - Former Austin Police Department Officer Leonardo Quintana was acquitted Wednesday of family violence and criminal trespass charges.

The trial was the latest legal challenge for the one-time officer who was fired by Chief Art Acevedo after he had been arrested on a drunken-driving charge in 2010. Quintana pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated last March.

In June, he was acquitted of charges of two domestic assault charges.

Quintana has been in and out of the news over his role in the death of an 18-year-old Nathaniel Sanders in East Austin in May 2009.
