BARTLETT, Texas (KXAN) - Police arrested Everett Tyrone Johnson, 43, early Tuesday morning in Bell County, wanted in the deadly stabbing of a 26-year-old in Bartlett.

Investigators arrested Johnson around 1 a.m. Tuesday without a problem.

Johnson is charged with murder, and Williamson County Sheriff's spokesman John Foster said Johnson will be transferred to Williamson County Jail later Tuesday.

Williamson County sheriff's officials had been looking for Johnson since very early Sunday morning when a fight between him and Joseph Lee Garza led up to the deadly stabbing.

Garza's mother on Monday made a direct plea to Johnson to turn himself in.

The incident happened at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, and police got a 911 call about Garza lying on the road in front of his home in the 400 block of Lucy Street.

"It hurts because I lost my son, I won't see his face anymore. I won't hear his phone calls," said Garza's mother, Dora Garza.

Garza said her son leaves behind five children, ages 8 to 1 year. He was killed on his son's seventh birthday.

"It's hard for me to explain to them about their dad being gone, you know. It's hard," said Garza. "His babies were his world to him, and he was like, you know, he just loved his kids."

Garza's family said he and Johnson were friends, but began to argue Sunday morning after their girlfriends got into a fight.

Williamson County deputies and Bartlett police found Garza stabbed and the suspect gone.
