Task forces seek suspect; catch another

TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) - The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, along with U.S. Marshals, are looking for a suspect Wednesday afternoon after he ran from officers as he was being served a warrant in Taylor earlier in the day.

In the search of a home near Givens Lane and Robinson Street, they discovered another man hiding who had an arrest warrant out for him. He was taken into custody. His name was not released.

The first suspect, identified as Javier Becerra-Avilla, 35, is charged with assaulting an officer from the Palm View Police Department on May 12 after he was pulled over near McAllen, according to Cord Campbell, supervisory deputy of the U.S. Marshals. Campbell said the suspect kicked and punched the PVPD officer.

Officials learned the suspect was living in Taylor and working a construction job. They spotted the man at the construction site at about 7 a.m. Wednesday. He ran from the scene as members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force attempted to contact him, according to John Foster with Williamson County Sheriff's Office.

A helicopter and special weapons and tactics team from WCSO are assisting in the search for the suspect.

U.S. Marshals became involved in the case after the suspect ran from the construction site.

He is described as:

• black-brown skin color
• 5 feet 8 inches
• weighing 140 pounds
• short hair
• short beard

He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with angel wings on the back, and blue jeans.

His formal charge in the May 12 incident is assault against a public servant, resisting arrest.
