CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) - The planned closing of a section of U.S. 183 through Cedar Park from the Leander to Rand Road 620 was postponed from Thursday to Friday morning.
The closure is needed so that two trucks with oversized loads pass through.
Traffic will likely be affected from about 9 a.m. until noon, officials said.
The trucks will be transporting 20 foot-tall loads from Liberty Hill to Houston. The trucks will stop at all traffic signals along the non-freeway part of the highway in Cedar Park because workers must lift the traffic signals and cables to allow the trucks to safely pass under them.
Intersections and sections of the highway will be open before and after the trucks pass through each intersection, but traffic will not be able to pass the trucks in either direction. Traffic is expected to move at a very slow crawl and even come to a complete stop at times.
Drivers should choose an alternate route, such as the 183A Toll Road or Anderson Mill Road, officials said
