Police say an armed assailant busted into a home around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, forcing residents to run for their lives.
One neighbor said he was awakened by his dog making a ruckus, only to look out his back window to find officers swarming his neighborhood.
"Around midnight police were actually going into each yard, searching," said Justin Tyler who lives on the same block. "The canine dog and three other officers they searched my backyard."
Neighbors described low flying choppers, lots of sirens and police combing the area.
Barbara Tyler has lived in the area more than 20 years and had never seen anything like this.
"I woke up to this and it was like a nightmare going on," she said. "It's like, 'is this for real'...it was very intense."
Mayra Perez lives across the street from where all the noise started.
She had just gone to bed when choppers began circling overhead. She stayed in her home, but did call her family down the street to make sure they were unharmed.
Another neighbor says he poked his head out, but police told him to lock down his house.
Police say there are no arrests yet. They are continuing their investigation today, but are asking the public to come forward if they have any information to help them solve this crime.
