GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) - The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter , which is currently overcrowded, is hoping a Valentine's Special will lead to more dog adoptions.
Several large dogs are facing euthanasia after dozens of dogs were dropped off at the center this week. On Friday, the shelter became even more overloaded because another 32 dogs landed at their doorstep.
"That was pretty overwhelming... and last week has been really hard because any of the rescue partners we have are also all full, so nobody can come," said Madelen Powell. "So we're kind of stuck with housing them, and we don't want to be overcrowded. That's not comfortable for them either."
From now until Valentine's Day the shelter has lowered the price on dog adoptions from $75 to $14.
Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is located at 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, on the north side of the road just east of FM 1460. Regular shelter hours are Tuesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
