CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) - Cedar Park is packing up the moving vans.

The city just northwest of Austin plans to vacate its existing City Hall at 600 N. Bell Blvd. on Friday and relocate to a new complex and about a mile and half south at 450 Cypress Creek Road.

The City Council approved spending nearly $5 million to purchase the seven-building complex that sites on 8.5 acres in February 2011.

This will give the city government some 68,000 square feet of space and home for its council meetings. The council had been meeting in a comparatively small room of the city's library.

City offices will be closed Friday for the move and will reopen next Monday in the new location.
