ROUND ROCK (KXAN) - Two burglars robbing an equipment truck, caught in the act, led to a brief intense manhunt from the Round Rock Police Department, including a helicopter and canine units.
Officer Dee Carver said the response was more intense because a witness had seen the burglary occur, and the suspects ran from the scene, leaving their truck behind. The likelihood of catching suspects under those circumstances are usually fairly good, but a thorough search of the area did not yield the two suspects.
The equipment truck was robbed from a location off Old Settlers Road. Initially, police thought the two suspects had taken two guns. Ultimately, it was only one gun, and Carver did not consider local residents at risk.
The search for the suspects is over. The truck will be impounded and dusted for fingerprints. Carver said she was not concerned that the two suspects were a danger to the public or at risk of robbing anyone else.
