ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - The Round Rock school board went late in to the night Thursday before considering a controversial plan to lease the city space on campus for a public recreation center.
Angry parents said when they voted the bonds for the project, they had no idea the center would be built on the Round Rock High school campus, where strangers would be near students.
School superintendent Jesus Chavez said those students will be safe because of added patrol and surveillance cameras.
In addition to school board approval, the plan also needs the okay of the Round Rock City Council.
