ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - Tuesday, Manpower Inc. gave a sneak peek of their outlook survey that anticipates employers' intentions to increase or decrease the number of employees in their workforce during the next quarter. The survey is based on over 31,000 employers within the top 200 Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the U.S. The complete survey will not be released until June 2009. Here are their findings of Central Texas.
From April to June, 17 percent of the companies plan to hire more employees. However, 10 percent plan to reduce their payroll. Around 69 percent will keep their current staff levels at a constant which 4 percent were uncertain of their hiring plans.
"Employers anticipate staff levels to be similar to the first quarter of 2009 when 15 percent of companies interviewed intended to add employees, and 10 percent planned to reduce staff levels," said Manpower spokesperson Joleen Dorsey.

However, some fields of work have planned to reduce their staffing levels. One of which is transportation and utilities.
From April to June, 15 percent of the employers surveyed plan to increase their staff levels, which is a reassuring statistics in a drooping economy. The rest of this survey can be found here.
