AUSTIN (KXAN) - An Austin police officer on a motorcycle collided with a van Friday afternoon in North Austin.
The accident happened at the intersection of 51st Street and Harmon Avenue when a van hit the officer, who has been a motorcycle officer for five years.
Authorities have not yet issued any citations because they said they think it may have just been an accident.
The officer had minor injuries but did go to University Medical Center Brackenridge to get check out as a precaution. He has since checked out of the hospital and is doing fine.
While the officer's identity is unknown, officials said he has been on the force for 12 years.
Meanwhile, traffic in the area is back to normal after officers secured the scene.
