Fire destroys apartment complex in Georgetown
A fire swept through an apartment complex at 402 Hedgewood Dr. in Georgetown, Texas early Thursday morning, destroying four units and displacing approximately 20 people. Fire crews still have the immediate area cordoned off for further investigation.
The American Red Cross of Central Texas responded to the fire, meeting with affected residents and providing them with resources to help them get through the next couple of days.
“Every day, we’re helping countless military families and people who have lost everything in a fire,” said CEO Marty McKellips. “We saw an incredible outpouring of support for our in international efforts in the past couple of months, because of that I worry that we won’t have the resources to help our neighbors in our own backyard. The Red Cross depends on local donors to help Central Texans when they need it most.”
