Teen student killed in car accident

MANCHACA, TEXAS (KXAN) - A teenager died early Sunday after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a tree.

DPS officials say that Jon Chin, a 17-year-old student of Austin, died around 2:40 a.m. at the intersection of Twin Creeks Rd. and Twin Creek Dr.

Officer reported that Chin was speeding while going northbound on Twin Creek Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle and slid sideways into a tree.

A Manchaca medic pronounced the teen dead on the scene.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
