AUSTIN (KXAN) - Vans, cabs, and cars drive up to the airport loading zones dropping off passenger after passenger at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Now that South by Southwest is over, it's time to get ready for the Monday work week.
"The emails and the phone calls don't stop so at some point, got to catch up on those," says traveler Rob Goldstein.
Rob spent the week in Austin looking for bands and DJ's to book for his entertainment company. Overall, Rob says it was a good week.
"Most importantly it's a great place to do business in the space we all work in so I think all in all it was a success," said Rob.
As Rob stands in the outside check-in counter, band members Sperm Birds all the way from Germany drive up and unload, preparing for their 12 hour journey back home.
"We have jobs and kids and whatever and there's no sense. It would be more costing here than going back today," says Roger Ingenthron.
Just a few of the extra thousands that are expected to walk in and out of ABIA's doors. Airport officials say Sunday and Monday are expected to be the busiest traveling days of March. To handle to the masses, increased staff have been called in.
"With the thousands traveling, we are advising passengers to arrive two hours early if you have a flight before 8a.m. and arrive 90 minutes early if you have a flight after 8a.m.," says ABIA spokesperson Jason Zielinski.
Some are arriving to ABIA for spring break. A large high school group from Connecticut are spending their Spring Break on Lady Bird Lake in rowing training.
"It's much warmer here," says Oma Anidi
Airport officials expect Monday morning to be the busiest day of the week. Their advice; get their early so you don't miss your flight.
