Suspect takes IDs from Gold's Gym

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Lorraine Lee Garrett is in the Travis County Jail in charged with theft. According to police, Garrett allegedly stole car keys and a purse while their owner was showering at Gold's Gym, 4404 W. William Cannon Drive, on Saturday.

Police said Garrett used the car keys to enter a vehicle belonging to Amy Daniels. 

Daniels later reported her laptop, two iPods, a pair of sunglasses and cash missing from her vehicle.

Police said Daniels also called The University Federal Credit Union , where she is an employee, to cancel her credit cards.

According to the affidavit, police said the bank told Daniels someone came through the drive-through lane using Daniels' driver's license and credit cards. The clerk knew the woman was not Daniels and asked the suspect to come inside to get the balance she asked for. The driver instead pulled away.

Bank surveillance stills of the suspect were sent to Austin police, who tracked down Garrett.

Garrett was arrested on a parole violation and charged with burglary of a vehicle and theft. She is being held on a $12,000 bond.

Garrett was previously convicted of two unrelated counts of theft.
