AUSTIN (KXAN) - A four vehicle accident on IH 35 killed one person Sunday morning.
According to Austin Police, the collision happened around 9:30 a.m. in the 900 block of north IH 35 southbound, near the 6th-12th St. exit.
Officers closed all of the southbound lanes on the interstate following the accident.
APD Sgt. Crystal Holland held a press conference outside of police headquarters at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to provide additional information.
Sgt. Holland says an 18-wheeler was one of the vehicles involved in the collision.
Three individuals were transported to Brackenridge Hospital where one female passenger was pronounced dead.
The two others taken to the hospital reportedly have non-life threatening injuries.
The accident was reportedly caused by a chain reaction traffic slowdown.
The identity of the female victim has not been released.
