AUSTIN (KXAN) - A malfunctioning gate at one of the three security checkpoints at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is back up and running after being inoperable for six hours.
Checkpoint 1 was closed from 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday after ABIA spokesman Jason Zelinski said the motor on the metal gate was broken and that they were unable to raise it.
The problem caused longer-than-normal wait times, and some airlines held their flights an extra few minutes to accomodate.
"Major security lines at airport stretch the length of terminal many miss flight," wrote in David Potter at 6:31 a.m. via the KXAN Austin News Report it! application .
All security checkpoints are now open.
