AUSTIN (KXAN) - A school bus accident at 5600 N. I-35 southbound frontage road with five children on board kept Austin Independent School District police busy Wednesday morning.
The small school bus rested on the shoulder near a sidewalk right across from the Baby Acapulco's restaurant just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, accompanied by an ambulance and an Austin police motorcycle unit.
An Austin Police Department dispatcher said EMS responded to the scene as part of school policy and as a precaution. However, no one was transported to the hospital.
Police said no report was taken but rather both the school bus driver and another driver were given "blue forms," which contained each drivers' information. Blue forms are handed out after traffic accidents so that the drivers involved can swap insurance information with one another.
Meanwhile, morning rush hour traffic was backed up for miles as motorists slowed to see the incident just off the highway, though traffic eased up immediately past the scene.
The scene cleared at 8:15 a.m.
