AUSTIN (KXAN) - A promoter at Spiro's nightclub was stabbed either before or during a mass shooting early Friday, police said- adding a twist to the incident that sent six people to the hospital after two men sprayed gunfire into a crowd outside the club.

No suspects have been charged in the stabbing incident, and no further details were available about it Monday.

Police arrested a member of the hip-hop group LG Allstarz, who were scheduled to perform but were turned away after arriving too late, a day after the shooting on unrelated drug charges.

While police questioned Wendon Earl Candrick, 25, as a possible suspect in the stabbing early Friday, they found Crack, marijuana and Ecstasy in his apartment and car.

Police arrested two members of the hip-hop group, Brandon and LeBaaron Hutchison, and they were charged with aggravated assault in the shooting, accused of firing handguns into the crowd in retaliation for being turned away. Eight people were shot and seven went to the hospital.

And while police have not connected Candrick to the shooting or stabbing, documents indicate Candrick admitted to being at Spiros the night of the fight and shooting. Candrick also told police he is a member of the LG Allstarz but said he did not shoot anyone.

The promoter told police an LG Allstarz member known only as "Gator" stabbed him. Police questioned Candrick after identifying him as "Gator" from the band's MySpace page.

Police said La Grange, Texas, brothers Brandon Bruce "Big Hutch" Hutchison, 25, and LaBaaron Demon "Li'l Hutch" Hutchison, 21, will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the 2:15 a.m. shooting on Friday.

Six victims were taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge, and two refused medical treatment at the scene. One person was shot in the stomach and is in critical condition.

According to a police affidavits, one woman was shot in both legs; another woman was shot in the stomach; one man was shot four times - in his right calf, right foot, right thigh and right buttocks; another man was shot in his rigth calf; another was shot in his right foot; another in his left foot; and two women were shot in the left leg.

Police said an officer also suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

Police said violence is not new to the area, with police responding to the club more than 170 times in the last year. The club is under review for abatement.

The club will be closed for the next week while the investigation continues.
