Post-it pickup makes love message stick

Wife covers truck entirely for Valentine's Day

AUSTIN (KXAN) - After being married for 13 years, nothing says "I'm stuck on you" better than hundreds of hot pink Post-it notes.

Stephanie Griffith said she got the idea to completely cover her husband's pickup truck in pink Post-it notes for Valentine's Day from a YouTube video several years ago, though the one she saw was for a birthday instead of Cupid's Day.

"[I thought] He's either going to love it or be really mad," said Stephanie, who completed the quirky, hour-long task with the help of a friend. "He loved it."

Stephanie said she thought it would be more fun to surprise him for Valentine's Day, when he'd expect it the least.

Matt Griffith and a couple of co-workers stepped out of their work building in North Austin to grab a bite to eat for lunch Monday when they noticed the "visitor's car" in the parking lot -- a hot pink one, nonetheless.

Yet, it only took a couple of seconds for Matt to realize the truck looked a little too familiar and that it was, in fact, his truck covered in hues that couldn't suit Valentine's Day any better.

Stephanie said he stood there in shock as she sped away in another vehicle.

When her husband later asked her why she didn't stop, she said: "Because I didn't want you to make me clean it up!"
