AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police were on the scene of an overnight disturbance in the 11000 block of Ptarmigan Drive in North Austin.  Officials said they were called to the house after someone reported shots fired around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Metric and Braker boulevards.

When law enforcement arrived, they said no one was near the scene. After driving through the area, police spotted a car wdriving erratically near Parmer Lane.  When police pulled the driver over they found an 18 year-old passenger with a life threatening stab wound.  He was taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge for treatment.

Police said the driver told them there had been a disturbance earlier in the night at a home on Ptarmigan Drive.  When police arrived at the home they found several shell casings, however no one answered the door to the home the driver described.

Because the driver had told police there was at least one handgun and shotgun inside the home, police called in the swat team.  In the end no one was found inside the residence.
