AUSTIN (KXAN) - A new Web site launches Thursday that's just for guys in the Austin area.
It will put men in the know of the latest happenings and places around town to check out, like Old School BBQ and Grill.
"If you go and eat something you like, you're going to go and tell your friends," said Dan Parrott, owner of the Old School BBQ and Grill.
Parrott opened the joint in East Austin Wednesday and doesn't believe in traditional advertising. However, he's pretty psyched about being featured in the first online issue of www.Thrillist.com.
"I think it's going to let people know we're here," said Parrott.
"Thrillist is a daily e-mail recommendation for guys of something new and cool in the city," said Thrillist.com Austin Editor Dan Gentile.
Thrillist started in New York and has made its way to 14 cities, including launching in Austin.
"We're looking for things that are new and fresh and haven't been seen in the market before," said Gentile.
All these include things like new bars, local products and new restaurants such as 24 Diner on Lamar.
"We're gearing it towards guys in their 20s or 30s who are looking to enjoy the city," said Gentile.
It's free to subscribe, and the list comes out Tuesday through Friday. And if someone has an idea, pitch it to them.
"We are always looking for tips. If we get a good one [and] we end up using it, we'll throw some beer money towards anyone who offers it to us," said Gentile.
Thrillist.com is written by guys for guys who want to check out the unique side of Austin.
"I think when people subscribe to it, they are looking for something that is not the average. They don't want the same old. They want different things," said Parrott.
