AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police arrested Phillip Brown, 58, on Saturday night for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for an incident at 38th Street and Guadalupe Street.
The affidavit states a woman was standing on a corner when Brown approached her and asked for a cigarette. She did not give him one, police said. The woman told police Brown kept pestering her, followed her and started to yell at her, pushing his face into hers. She became concerned for her safety, she told police.
According to the report, the woman said she took out a knife, but did not open it, and told Brown to leave her alone or she would cut him. She went into a nearby convenience store for help, and when she came out, Brown was allegedly sitting on a nearby bench.
The woman said Brown stood and again yelled at her, allegedly holding out a knife in a threatening manner, its blade exposed.
Believing the woman did what she could to avoid Brown, police arrested Brown for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
