AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police Thursday arrested Douglas Edward Pawlak, 58, on charges of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.
An undercover operation was conducted in May via Limewire , an open source peer-to-peer network, that turned up child pornography images from a single source computer. Officials obtained the account information for the computer via grand jury subpoena. The Internet Protocol address belonged to Pawlak, whose address is listed in the 5000 block of Leralynn St.
On May 26, investigators executed a search warrant at Pawlak's home. During an interview with him, he allegedly admitted to police that there might be "1" or "2" images of child pornography on his computer.
His equipment was seized and examined by the Office of Attorney General's Cyber Crimes Forensic Unit. The examination found 291 images and five videos of child pornography on Pawlak's computer, according to the arrest affidavit. One image is described as a young nude female performing a sexual act on a canine.
Pawlak is currently being processed at Travis County central booking. His bond is set at $70,000.
