AUSTIN (KXAN) - Two baby lions have made their debut at the Austin Zoo. They are only 5 weeks old and are named Anastasia and Memphis.
Huge crowds gathered to take pictures and pose with the adorable cubs.
"I think it's very exciting that people have an opportunity to see a baby lion," said Patti Clark, president and executive director of the Austin Zoo. "Very few people have that opportunity and to have them right here in Austin, Texas at Austin Zoo is a real privilege and an honor."
The Austin Zoo is researching to see if the lions are, in fact, Barbary lions. Barbary lions are extinct in the wild and less than 100 can be seen in zoos around the world.
Anastasia and Memphis can be seen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 4 p.m.
