AUSTIN (KXAN) - Some people believe its the most important election coming up for Texans - the race for seats on the State Board of Education.
Saturday afternoon, three people hoping to win those seats came to a meet-the-candidate forum in southeast Austin.
The candidates took questions from the audience.
"The State Board of Education is, in my opinion the most important election that is coming up pretty soon. The reason being, the people who sit on the board of education will determine what will be taught to our schoolchildren and, uh, we want to hear what they have to say,," said Author Dan Arellano.
The League of United Latin American Citizens sponsored the forum. District 10 candidates Judy Jennings and Lorenzo Sadun attended, as did Rebecca Bell-Meterau who's running for the District 5 seat.
They're all Democrats.
Three Republican candidates declined to attend.
