AUSTIN (KXAN) - Dozens of people spent part of Sunday inside taking notes and listening to speakers - all in the name of saving animals.
It's part of the orientation for volunteers for Austin Pets Alive!, a group that works to reduce the rate of animals being euthanized at Austin's Town Lake Animal Center.
"I think people see this as an important need because, number one, they love animals, and they see that animals are needlessly dying in the shelter, and we can do something about that," said one organizer.
Borron says that a key role of Austin Pets Alive volunteers is taking animals out into the community. You may have seen them out along the Lady Bird Lake trail.
Borron says seeing the animals up close helps increase adoptions.
