AUSTIN (KXAN) - Saturday artists from around the country were here for what they called a Million Musicians March for Peace.
They marched from the state capitol to City Hall and provided their own soundtrack the whole way down.
There wasn't quite a million of them but those who made it were enthusiastic despite the rain. Austin Musicians were joined by hundreds of out-of-towners.. It took an hour to get everyone down to City Hall where the music continued, folks belting out classic peace tunes like Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land."
The crowd of musicians included many veterans.
"To me, as a veteran, I feel betrayed by my country. As do so many other veterans. And thats why I spend my life at this point, trying to make a better world for my grandkids and your grandkids.," said one veteran.
The group said the march marks the seventh anniversary of the US- invasion of Iraq, and the ninth year of hostilities in Afghanistan.
