AUSTIN (KXAN) - Summer break from school is almost here, and that means parents need to find activities for their kids.

Summer camp is one option, and a new camp out in Bertram is giving kids quite a thrill ride. It's called the Iron Horse Country Ranch .

"For kids of a younger age, it's kind of like a teenager getting their license to drive a car," said Iron Horse Country Ranch owner Justin Turner.

The camp teaches kids about motocross, and each camper goes through training.

"We don't trust that any kids can ride," said Turner. "We have bicycles that we first test them on to make sure they can ride.”

Once they get on the motorcycle, it's the easy course first.

"There are about 20 drills," said Turner. "They have to pass each drill to move onto the next."

Parents will be happy to know all of the bikes and safety equipment are provided.

"He [Turner] makes sure they are wearing their helmets," said Natasha Collmann, a camper's mother. "They have chest protectors. All the equipment they provide, and they are safe when they are out there riding."

For the kids, it's just about having fun.

"The first time I was out here, I thought, 'This is going to be fun,'" said 7-year-old Dylan Armer.

And there's one thing they love doing.

"I love the jumps because you feel like you're going so high," said Zach Collmann, a 13-year-old camper. "When you look at it on film, you're really so low, but it is so much fun."

"This is old-fashioned fun," said Turner. "It doesn't get any better than this."

Motocross camp runs June 8 through the end of August, and the day camp costs $440.

Campers are picked up at Cedar Park High School and Steiner Ranch .
