Event raises money to fight Muscular Dystrophy

Austin (KXAN) - According to the Associated Press, national pledge amounts were down from last year's contributions, which were approximately  $60.5 million.

The Annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon kicked off Sunday night with the long-standing Labor Day tradition aimed at raising money for the fight against Muscular Dystrophy.

The 21-and-a-half -hour telethon was aired on television stations across the nation.

KXAN and KNVA hosted the telethon in the Austin area with Jim Spencer, Leslie Rhode, Chris Willis and Sally Hernandez.
