Homeless pets available on Christmas

Consider adopting a homeless animal as a gift

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Your gifts are all bought. Out-of-state friends and family will soon unwrap what you spent hours trekking through stores to find, then ship via mail carrier.

Maybe it's time to gift yourself, you think, but trinkets, toys and electronics just aren't your style.

You've got enough clothes. You own all the music CDs and DVDs you could want. Your shelves bulge with the latest best sellers. Thoughts of "If only I had someone warm to cuddle up to" or "I wish I wasn't going to be alone on Christmas" run through your mind. But you're not quite ready for that next new relationship.

Consider adopting a homeless pet.

Austin is such a pet-friendly city, it seems the perfect idea, but where do you find a pet on Christmas Day?

Long after Santa has made all his stops, Austin Pets Alive! will be open on Saturday, Dec. 25 , for those who decide they want to bring home a new companion on Christmas. People who receive pet adoption gift certificates won't have to wait until after Christmas to find that perfect pet, either.

APA! is located at 2807 Manchaca Road .
