SPICEWOOD, Texas (KXAN) - Acting on a tip, Burnet County sheriff’s investigators last week seized 61 marijuana plants and arrested a man on a third-degree felony charge.

The officers executed a search warrant at 501 Want-A-Hideaway Drive in Spicewood on Friday.

The search resulted in the seizure of the plants and the arrest of Uzziel Fernandez, 34. He was charged with possession of more than 50 pounds of marijuana.

The investigation began after authorities received a Crime Stoppers tip from the Austin Police Department alleging that Fernandez was growing marijuana. The tipster said Fernandez had a sophisticated indoor growing operation complete with an elaborate venting system and grow lights on timers that traveled across the ceilings on tracks.

The Tipster also noted that Fernandez was known to keep weapons inside the residence.

Fernandez is awaiting arraignment at Burnet County Jail.
