Local VFDs are offering rewards for solving cases

KINGSLAND, Texas (KXAN) - A series of suspicious fires in the Kingsland area has local fire departments stumped, so they're reaching out to the public for help.

And they're reaching into the fund that pays out rewards in an effort to boost their chances of solving the cases.

During the past several weeks, Kingsland area volunteer fire departments and Llano County deputies have responded to fires within a half-mile radius of each other. Most of them involved unoccupied buildings or grass and brush piles.

Of the most significant is a fire that occurred on June 25 when the still-under-construction Seton Clinic on Ranch Road 2900 burned. Two brush fires occurred at the same time frame in the same area as the clinic fire.

On July 14, an unoccupied house in the 1300 block of Ranch Road1431 burned, as did a storage building several blocks away. Other fires also occurred in the area.

The most recent fire occurred in the 300 block of Highland Loop on Saturday night involving an unoccupied building.

Anyone with information is asked to calll the Llano County Sheriff’s Office at 325-247-5767 or 1-877-434-7345. Useful information could bring a reward of up to $2,000.
