(KXAN) - Central Texans awoke to a cold, wet Friday as the season's first snow blanketed the Hill Country.

Scenic photos were sent to KXAN from places like Burnet, Bertram and Fredericksburg, where community Christmas decorations gave renewed spirit to the fading holiday season.

The KXAN weather team was reporting that the weather could bring some ice to the roads in the Hill Country.

Closer to Austin, some viewers notified KXAN that they were seeing a snow-rain mixture in the western rim of Travis County.

"It is starting to sleet in Lakeway!" said Sam Burke in an email.

Out to the west, the Texas Department of Transportation was reporting hazardous driving conditions on Interstate 10 toward El Paso.

The temperatures were expected to rise above freezing in the KXAN viewing area throught the morning, leaving just rain until the evening.
