SAN SABA COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - A prominent pecan farm owner is missing and her caretaker is dead after a murder/kidnapping case in San Saba County.

Bonnie Harkey is still missing one day after deputies found her caretaker dead at the house that sits on Harkey’s pecan farm.

Deputies say the caretaker’s 9-year-old son called them to report his mom had fallen and was unresponsive. When they arrived at the home, the discovered the woman was murdered and Harkey was missing.

Carl Pressley was arrested in the murder of the caretaker whose name has not been released. Deputies believe Pressley, an adopted grandson of Harkey, knows the whereabouts of his 85-year-old grandmother.

The Harkey family is very well-known in San Saba County and the pecan farm sits right outside of Harkeyville, a town named in the family’s namesake.

San Saba County Sheriff’s Office said more details would be made available in the coming days.
