SPICEWOOD, Texas (KXAN) - The Pedernales Fire Department Auxiliary is hosting a fire fundraiser tonight from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. The department suffered major damage to its vehicles and equipment following a 6,400 acre wildfire last month .
Tickets are $25 dollars and will get you BBQ, beer, wine, access to a live and silent auction and live music. Duck Soup will be performing.
The fundraiser will be held at the fire department which is located at 801 Bee Creek Road in Spicewood.
During Labor Day weekend fire, fire crews had to cover more than 6,400 acres. They were trying to protect and save 131 homes in the burn area. In the end, only 45 homes were lost. Twenty-six of those homes are described as single-family, 18 were mobile homes and there was one duplex.
The department's three brush trucks also sustained significant damage. A sprayer on the front bumper was ripped off, more than ten tires had to be replaced and a tree fell on one brush truck. Replacing this tires cost more than $300 each because they are specialty tires.
"This fire beat our trucks to pieces," said Assistant Fire Chief Mark Warren.
