Llano orders stage 3 water restrictions

LLANO, Texas (KXAN) - Due to the continued low flows on the Llano River, and forecasted hot and dry conditions, the city of Llano has ordered stage 3 water restrictions be implemented immediately.

The goal of stage 3 restrictions is to limit daily pumping at the water treatment plant to 800,000 gallons per day.

In order to meet this goal, the use of hose-end sprinklers or permanently installed automatic sprinkler systems are allowed once per week between the hours of 6-10 a.m. and between 8 p.m. and 12 midnight, according to the city's water conservation and drought contingency plan.

The city's stage 3 restrictions from last year, and will allow property owners using a hand-held hose, a faucet-filled bucket or drip irrigation system only to irrigate landscaped areas twice per week according to the following schedule:

Hand-held/Drip Irrigation or Sprinklers

• Even Addresses: Thursday and/or Sunday
• Odd Addresses Wednesday and/or Saturday
• Commercial, Recreational, Multi-Family: Tuesday and/or Friday

If changes to the above schedule are required, you are asked to call the city offices at 325-247-4158.

Additional restrictions prohibit the use of water for non-recirculating fountains, wash down of sidewalks and washing of vehicles except at commercial car washes and service stations at the hours designated above, according to the city's water conservation plan.

Violation of the water use restrictions may result in a fine, city officials said.
